Setting things up
We’ll do most of the work in setting up a camp, but will need someone with a good level of English to act as our local coordinator – either a teacher or a parent. This person will liaise with staff in our UK office, and be responsible for a series of straightforward tasks. These will include inviting parents to a presentation by a member of English Experience Camps staff at your school or venue, collecting pupil registrations, and gathering the names of local families who are interested in being paid to host teachers and activity leaders while the camp is running.
During the camp
We’ll need enough classrooms and outdoor space in your school or venue to accommodate the number of children booked onto the course. Our local coordinator will need to meet the camp team when they arrive, be on site on the first and last day of the camp, and on the days in between be contactable by phone. There will also need to be someone on site each day of the camp (normally a caretaker or secretary), to offer logistical support if necessary. Day-to-day issues relating to course provision or welfare will be dealt with by our camp coordinator (a senior member of the teaching team).

Why choose English Experience Camps?

Staff to student ratios are 9-13 students per staff member.

- Our class sizes range from 12 to 17 depending on the total number of students at the camp.
What is the age range of the students?
- 7 to 14 years old (Theme-Based Course)
- 13 to 17 years old (High School Course)
What resources are used?
- Theme-based resources which change yearly
- A separate course for high school students
- All resources and materials are supplied by English Experience Camps.
How many hours of English lessons / activities are there per day?
- The students attend 2 English lessons and have 2 activities per day
- Each session lasts 1 hour 15 minutes, giving a total of 5 hours per day
Where do the staff stay?
- With local host families
- The host families usually have children who attend the camp
How long does a camp last?
1 or 2 weeks from Monday to Friday
In which countries do you currently organise camps?
Italy, Slovenia, Germany, and France. We welcome opportunities from other countries.
What responsibilities would I have?
- To handle school administration and student registrations
- To organise a parents’ meeting to promote the camp
- To receive and safely store all our materials
- To allocate host families to staff
- To assist with arrival arrangements for our staff
- To devise class lists
- To meet our camp coordinator regarding facilities, lunch arrangements etc
- To discuss the requirements of the final performance with the camp coordinator
- To be available to provide support during the camp
